Happy New Year! It is officially a new year in the Chinese calendar, and this year we are celebrating the year of the Horse. Here is a quick celebratory design to ring in the new year. Enjoy!

Convention Paintings
Hello and happy 2014! It’s been a slow beginning to the year for me painting wise, but I’ve now made up for that by spending the last 4 days at a Face Painting Convention! Who knew face painters had conventions, right? Well this was my third convention since I started painting in 2010 and they are super fun! Exhausting, but also challenging and exciting. The best thing about conventions is learning a whole new bag of tricks! I now have alot of things to practice, as well as some great new designs. I can’t wait to show you how it all turns out!
Here are the paintings I got to do at the convention. I tried to challenge myself and try some new things out. Hopefully these new skills turn into great new paintings to offer my clients!
What do you think?
My Dark Moon Man
I learned some amazing new tricks with split cakes and bought some new colors… I can’t wait to turn this into a birthday party design!
This was a challenge in a class… a Tiger Sugar Skull. I LOVE how those colors pop!
And this is for everyone who always asks how I paint myself… TA DA! Here I am painting myself… no big mystery, it’s just me, a paint brush and a mirror. 🙂
Check out my Body Painting page to see the cool design I did for that!
A few new designs…
Recently my niece came over for a sleep over, and the very first thing she said to me was “Aunt Amanda, can you paint my face?”. So the next day before heading out to the mall I let the girls pick whatever they wanted out of my extremely large collection of inspiration images… and of course my niece just wanted to be a cat. A black cat to be specific, because she’s into “natural fur colors” now. I had to haggle with her a bit, but finally talked her into letting me add some gold so she could be a Calico kitty, and I could still try out a new design. We were both quite happy with the results!
And my step-daughter just wanted something pretty… which I always love to paint!
And my last new design for today… Unfortunately I’m usually not able to take photos of my paintings at parties, but every once in a while I try to snap a few, especially when I try something new on the fly. This little darling was ADORABLE and made a super cute Dalmatian puppy… but was too squirmy to get a good picture! But it’s still cute, and makes me want to try this design again.
With the winter months ahead being my slow season, hopefully I’ll have time to play with more new designs soon! Check back to see my latest works!
RTA’s Search the City Scavenger Hunt
A few weeks ago I spent the day with a bunch of friends participating in the RTA Search the City Scavenger Hunt, which was a fun filled day taking trains and busses around Cleveland in search of clues and interesting places. It was a crazy day, and completely exhausting, but tons of fun! And while my team didn’t even come close to winning the challenge, we did win the Best Dressed contest! I introduce to you… TEAM AWESOME!
It’s always handy to have a face painter on your team when there’s a costume contest! 😉
Happy 4th of July!
Hello fellow Americans! (and hello to my visiting friends from around the world, of course) Today we are celebrating our nations birthday, and you know how much I love a reason to paint for birthdays! In honor of the holiday, here are some new designs perfect for today’s festivities. I got to paint these last night at a fun event, and hopefully they will still be popular through the year. Enjoy, and happy 4th!
NEW! Henna Style Freehand Glitter Tattoo’s!
I am excited to now offer beautiful freehand Glitter Tattoos! These designs are henna style artwork, drawn directly onto your skin with skin safe body glue, and then can be turned any color with glitters or mica powders! Each tattoo lasts about 5 days, and is waterproof, so no worry about washing it off in the shower. It even removes easily with rubbing alcohol!
I painted my first prom girl today, and I know right now she is the bell of the ball! What fun to have beautiful artwork as part of your outfit… in fact, I had a necklace piece drawn on me for my wedding last year! It was AMAZING and I loved it! I hope this beauty is loving her’s just as much… hopefully I’ll get photos of her in her dress to add to this post!
Interested in getting more information about having a beautiful freehand glitter tattoo done on you or for an event? Check out the Henna Style Tattoo’s link at the top of the page!
Happy Anniversary to ME!
Hello ladies and gents… I don’t know if any of you have been following this page from the beginning, but if you have then you know it’s been about 3 years since I started posting photos of my face paintings. In fact, it has been 3 years exactly since I started face painting! Wow, does the time fly! Well I like to look at milestone dates like this as a benchmark for improvement. If this year was good, I want the next year to be great! I am a big fan of self improvement, and while it’s impossible to always improve in everything, I think it’s important to at least be able to look back at one big thing and say “wow… look at that, in the last year I’ve gotten so much stronger, thinner, faster, happier, etc…” Whatever the thing, make sure you take the time to acknowledge the improvements you’ve made in your life!
And with that being said, take a look at this… on the left is the very first Two-Face I ever painted. On the right is the one I painted last week. Now that is some obvious improvement! And what’s even better is I would bet it took me the same amount of time, if not less, to paint this new version! It’s things like this that make me proud of myself and how far I’ve come as an artist. 🙂 I hope you find something in your life that you can be proud of too!
My Pledge…

Let’s hear it for the BOYS!
Well folks, I made it to the end of my goal… I practiced new designs each weekend this month! I have to say, it has been super fun trying new things! I can’t wait to get these in my book for kids to choose at upcoming parties. Not only did I practice new things, but I painted at some really awesome parties too! This weekends plan was to paint new BOY designs…. Let me know what you think!
Now I know this is supposed to be all about boy designs, but I couldn’t resist trying out some new girl super hero’s too!
Pretty Pretty Princess!
Hello friends! I have a princess themed birthday party on my schedule soon and so I decided this weekend I would work on my princess crowns. There are so many different ways to paint a “crown” but sometimes on the spot my mind draws a blank. So here are 4 new versions for the girls to choose from. Enjoy!
P.S… next week for sure I’ll be working on new BOY designs!
